Michael Jordan was denied playing for his varsity basketball team when he was a sophomore in high school due to his height. He worked vigorously in the off-season and grew four inches and eventually made the Varsity squad. In 1981, he accepted a basketball scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
