Kaleta didn’t exactly get the retribution he was seeking. Instead, what he got was a few punches to the face and a spot on our “Frozen Fisticuffs Fight of the Night” for Wednesday, February 8, 2012.

The first took place less than two minutes into the game, as the Flyers’ Tom Sestito went after the Bruins’ Milan Lucic in an act of revenge following Lucic’s hit-from-behind on Zac Rinaldo during their last meeting. As for the second, that involved two of the league’s toughest enforcers, as Shawn Thornton and Jody Shelley dropped the gloves and settled their differences during a spirited second period bout.

You can check out both fights in the videos below.

He demonstrated the latter during last night’s game against the Ottawa Senators, as he dropped the gloves with tough guy Matt Carkner midway through the first period. In addition to holding his own against the large enforcer, Lucic appeared to have earned the decision, and a spot on the “Frozen Fisticuffs Fight of the Night” for Wednesday, December 14, 2011.

After the Canucks Maxim Lapierre taunted Patrice Bergeron with a finger to the mouth during Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals, Bruins’ coach Claude Julien responded by saying the following:

“If it’s acceptable for (the Canucks), then so be it. Certainly wouldn’t be acceptable on our end of it…The NHL rules on something. They decide to make a mockery of it, that’s totally up to them. If that’s their way of handling things, so be it.”

Well it appears as though Julien’s words to the media didn’t reach his own dressing room as it was his own players making a mockery of the NHL during Game 3 last night as both Mark Recchi and Milan Lucic got in on the taunting by pointing their fingers at the mouths of Lapierre and Burrows, respectively.

Julien addressed the issue following Game 3, saying that he did not want to see that stuff from his team and that it was probably his fault “for not bringing it up to the guys.” But if the Bruins players were so against it following Game 2, isn’t is somewhat hypocritical for them to take part in it during the very next game?

Here is a look at the finger taunting from both Recchi and Lucic during Game 3 last night.

Of the 30 hits the Canucks players delivered, none were prettier that Dan Hamhuis’ hip check, which sent Bruins forward Milan Lucic somersaulting through the air by the Boston bench four minutes into the second period. The Bruins’ David Krejci would receive the only penalty on the play for cross-checking Hamhuis, who left the game and did not return.

Hamhuis is listed as day-to-day, but if his injury is serious enough to keep him out for the remainder of the series, he will at least be able to say that he went out with a bang. I’m sure Lucic will agree.

Here is another look at the hit.

These two combatants did battle for an incredible 60 seconds, and they finished things off like two boxers doing battle in the ring, making this an easy choice for the “Frozen Fisticuffs Fight of the Night” for Thursday, March 31, 2011.

Most organizations came into today’s NHL trade deadline looking to improve some aspect of their team, whether it was scoring, defense or any other area. As for the Boston Bruins, one area they didn’t need to improve on was team toughness. The B’s already have a plethora of tough guys, including Shawn Thornton, Adam McQuaid and Gregory Campbell. They also have a few skilled players that can drop the gloves as well.

Two of those players showed off their versatility last night as Nathan Horton delivered a knockout punch in a fight with the Oilers’ Theo Peckham, while Milan Lucic dropped the gloves with Jim Vandermeer in a bout that was worthy of our “Frozen Fisticuffs Fight of the Night” for Sunday, February 27, 2011.

Here is a look at the Lucic vs. Vandermeer fight, followed by Horton’s one-punch.

Less than one week ago it was the Bruins and the Dallas Stars providing hockey fans with three fights and two goals within the opening 80 seconds of their game. As for last night’s meeting between the Bruins and the Montreal Canadiens, there may have been no scoring or fighting within the entire opening 13 minutes, but from that point on fans were treated to a total of 14 goals, two line-brawls and one goalie fight between Carey Price and Tim Thomas.

The rough stuff started 12 minutes into the second period, when a hit by Bruins’ forward Brad Marchand sparked a melee in the corner. Price and Thomas eventually squared off during that same stoppage in play, but their bout didn’t last long after Thomas went tumbling to the ice.

Tensions boiled over once again with only 49 seconds remaining in the game, as players from both teams on the ice exchanged punches. It all started when Travis Moen decided to send a message to Bruins’ defenseman Andrew Ference. That bout was followed up by several of the Bruins’ enforcers taking liberties on the much less experienced fighters from Montreal.

When it was all said and done, 12 fighting majors and 182 penalty minutes were handed out, making it clear that there is no love lost between these two division rivals. Here is a look at how things transpired during each of the game’s two separate brawls.

The Stars don’t make the trip out east to Boston all that often, but for some reason when they do things tend to get interesting. The last time these two teams met at the TD Garden back in October 2008, tempers flared as a total of 146 penalty minutes were handed out. It almost seemed as though they were trying to surpass that mark in the opening 10 seconds of this game.

Immediately after the puck dropped for the opening face-off, the Stars’ Steve Ott and the Bruins’ Gregory Campbell squared off. After they were done, Shawn Thornton and Krys Barch went toe-to-toe immediately following the next puck-drop. Only two seconds into the game and already two fights had taken place, and they weren’t done there.

Two seconds later it was Brian Sutherby and Adam McQuaid dropping the gloves. There you have it! Only four seconds in and already three fights had taken place. The only thing that was missing was some scoring, but that didn’t take too long. With the Bruins’ enforcers easily winning the final two bouts, the momentum was in their corner and they capitalized on it 31 seconds later as Milan Lucic beat Andrew Raycroft to put his team up 1-0.

“Thirty-five seconds in! Three fights and a goal! Are you having fun yet?” asked NESN play-by-play analyst Jack Edwards. Not quite Jack. How about one more goal?

Sure thing! Just 45 seconds later it was Patrice Bergeron deflecting home a perfect cross-crease pass from Brad Marchand to put the B’s up 2-0. It was the wildest 80 seconds of hockey you can imagine as the fans were treated to a total of three fights and two goals for the home team over that span.

As for the remaining 58 minutes and 40 seconds of the game, it wasn’t quite as good as the first 80 seconds that preceded it, but it did include seven more goals and one more fight. Not too shabby at all.

Here is a look at the best 80 seconds of hockey you may ever witness.
