Total Pro Sports – The third week of the NHL Fantasy 3 Stars sees the return of two already familiar faces, one expected the other not so much, and two Cup champs. One of the champs is looking to solidify himself as one of the top goaltenders in the league while the other has been enjoying life in the Big Apple.

This week’s honorable mention goes to Marc-Andre Fleury of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Last week Fleury won all 3 of his games while posting a 1.30 GAA, .952 SAV% and zero shutouts. He also made 79 saves in his 3 games played. Marc-Andre may not pile up the shutouts, have the best SAV% or GAA in the league but he will pile up the wins while between the pipes for Pittsburgh which is big in fantasy.

Lets take a look at the NHL Fantasy 3 Stars for Week 3.

3rd Star – Vaclav Prospal (LW), New York Rangers

Vaclav Prospal struggled mightily with the Lightning last year but signed a below market value 1-year contract with the Rangers to try and turn things around, so far so good. Last week Prospal scored 2 goals and added 4 assists for 6 points with 3 of those points coming while on the power play. He also posted a plus/minus rating of plus-4 with zero penalty minutes, 4 shots on goal and won 11 faceoffs. They have Prospal playing with Dubinsky and Gaborik on the top line so expect good things from Vinny while he’s on that line.

2nd Star – Alexander Ovechkin (LW), Washington Capitals

Alexander Ovechkin has continued his great start with his third solid week in-a-row. Last week Ovechkin scored 4 goals while adding 2 assists for 6 points with just one of those points coming while on the power play. He also had a plus/minus rating of plus-4, zero penalty minutes, 26 shots on goal and 1 game winning goal. Alex has already shown why he is the best fantasy player in the NHL and will continue to do so as the season progresses.

1st Star – Ilya Bryzgalov (G), Phoenix Coyotes

For the second week in-a-row Ilya Bryzgalov cracks the top 3 and is starting to make a believer out of yours truly. Last week Bryz won all 3 of his games while posting a 0.95 GAA, .959 SAV% and one shutout. He also made 70 saves in his three victories. Ilya is a solid goaltender but the Coyotes seem to be overachieving right now and Bryzgalov will only be able to stand on his head for so long. If you’re set in net and can deal Ilya I say do it now while his value is still at it’s highest.

Remember to check back in next week to see who the NHL Fantasy 3 Stars will be for Week 4.
