This massive crowning of Sullinger would account for two of Barlow’s 14 points on the evening (tying his season-high). But despite coming out on the losing end of this highlight reel play, it was Sullinger and his Buckeyes who would come out on top where it counts, as the highly-touted forward recorded 18 points during Ohio State’s 87-84 victory.

As for Barlow and his Boilermaker teammates, they leave Value City Arena with a hard fought loss to the nation’s No. 3 ranked team, and the following highlight reel clip.

Check it out.

The Miami Hurricanes entered the game as 11.5 point favorites and were expected to repeat as National Champions. Their roster included several players on both offense and defense who would go on to have successful NFL careers, including Andre Johnson, Willis McGahee, Kellen Winslow Jr., Jonathan Vilma and the late Sean Taylor. Despite being heavy favorites, the Hurricanes were in a dogfight from the start, as the game remained close throughout its entirety. On the last play of regulation, Ohio State kicker Todd Sievers hit a 40-yard field goal to tie the game at 17 and send it into overtime.

After the teams exchanged touchdowns in the first overtime, the Buckeyes would get the ball first in the second overtime and scored a touchdown to go up 31-24. Ohio’s defense then stopped the Hurricanes on 4th and goal on the 1 yard line to complete the upset.

Here is the final play of the game.

An abundance of talent or way too much time on his hands? That is the question we are left to ask after hearing that 42-year-old Paul Janssen spent an incredible 1,000 hours over two years creating an 8-foot-by-6-foot Lego replica of Ohio Stadium in his Dublin basement.

Three years after he was hired as an associate professor of physiology and cell biology at Ohio State University, Janssen began working on the project. That was back in 2005. Six years later his masterpiece is finally complete. Although the plans for building the stadium began back in 2005, construction did not begin until May 2009. The scale of the replica is 1/100 and required approximately 1 million Lego pieces. The base alone consists of 45,000 Lego pieces and the entire stadium can be divided into 10 sections, each weighing up to 50 pounds.

Creating this masterpiece was not always as easy as snapping a few Lego blocks together. In addition to searching for specific pieces online, Janssen was required to do some intense studying of the stadium, using building measurements and satellite images, as well as photos he had taken of the press box and other details during football games. At one point, after 15 hours of work Janssen decided to dismantle the east side of the stadium because he wasn’t pleased with the steepness of the stands.

During his time spent at Buckeyes’ games, Janssen developed an appreciation not only for Ohio Stadium, but also for the game of football. Having known nothing about the sport when he began this project, he is now a big fan and a proud Buckeyes season-ticket holder.

Janssen intends to display his masterpiece on campus with hopes of raising money for his research on heart failure and muscular dystrophy. So what do donors get out of this? A seat in this Lego stadium, which he believes can hold up to 6,000 Lego people. That number may pale in comparison to the 102,000 that can fit into the real Ohio Stadium, but if he can get a sellout crowd within this replica, we will still be quite impressed.

Hat Tip – [The Columbus Dispatch]

Allow me to explain.

This was the scene outside the home of some Ohio State fans prior to their football game against the Miami Hurricanes this past weekend. You will notice the Canes fans performing their chant on the front lawn of the Buckeyes fans, but pay special attention to the man in the white Miami Heat jersey. Not only is he wearing a LeBron James #6 Heat jersey in Ohio (already a sign of disrespect in itself), but after performing his little dance, he takes a swing at one of the Ohio State fans. That’s right. A Miami boy comes to the state of Ohio (for those who are unaware, Cleveland is in Ohio), puts on his LeBron James jersey, and starts throwing his fists in the direction of Buckeyes fans.

In certain places a brother could get himself killed for showing such disrespect. Unfortunately, this video was cut short and now we will never know exactly what happened to this brave jackass.

Ohio State football players aren’t necessarily known for their intelligence, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be romantic. Lineman Jim Cordle is a great example of this. In one of the ultimate aw moments in sports, he gets down on one knee and proposes to his longtime girlfriend Kerry McNally at the Ohio State football team’s end of the season banquet.

While Cordle goes on and on a bit with his thank yous to different people, you can tell his anxiety is building and that he is extremely nervous when he walks over to propose. Coach Jim Tressel said it best:

“He extended our banquet by 15 minutes because he kept rambling and thanking all these other people and hesitating. But he did a great job once he pulled the trigger.”

For all the scrutiny we put athletes under, both amateur and professional, its nice to see something good once in a while. A surprise proposal is always fun and Cordle pulls it off. Now personally, I know my girlfriend said she would kill me if I ever proposed to her at a sporting event because guys don’t understand that the proposal is for the girl and not for the guy (since most guys would think its pretty cool to do it at, say, a Cubs game). This is not exactly a sporting event though, and I’m sure his lovely fiance was thrilled to have been asked in front of so many friends.

Anyways, its nice to have a surprise sports story that doesn’t involve Tiger Woods sleeping with a porn star or Chad Johnson trying to hog the limelight with a name change. That’s not to say those things aren’t fun, its just nice to have a positive story for a change.

It seemed like a highlight reel moment in the making. As he drove to the hole, Evan Turner had his sights set on laying down a thunderous dunk against Eastern Michigan. What he did not anticipate was the pain he would have to go through during the aftermath of the play.

With the lane cleared out, the junior guard out of Ohio State went up with two hands, but after taking a foul from behind, Turner missed the dunk and held on to the rim a fraction of a second too long. This caused his feet to swing out from under him, and he landed flat on his back. Players from both teams watched as he winced in pain on the ground. You can even hear him uttering the words “Oh F*ck.”

It was later revealed that Turner will be out about eight weeks with a transverse process fracture on the second and third lumbar vertebra of his spine. “Oh F*ck” indeed!

Turner was in the midst of a spectacular season, averaging 20.6 points, 12.9 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game. He was a front runner for Big Ten Player of the Year and All-American honors, but this injury will surely derail the possibility of receiving such accolades.

As one of the nation’s top college players, Turner seems to have received the “Blake Griffin” treatment in this instance, but whereas much of Griffin’s punishment came from opposing players, Turner has become the victim of his own self-inflicted abuse.

Tolzien’s Badgers were 5-0 going into the game with the Buckeyes. Although they had mostly played cupcakes before this week’s matchup, Tolzien had still looked pretty impressive. He had 9 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in those 5 games. Most people felt the team was not as good as their record, however, and it showed on Saturday. Tolzien’s day was a disaster. Even though the Badgers controlled the ball for 42 out of the 60 minutes, they were consistently unable to avoid big mistakes.

When the team finally did make a good play, Tolzien was fired up. When he went to celebrate by trying to get a high five from his teammates, they showed their disapproval for their quarterback’s performance by giving him the shaft. Not a single player on the team wanted to high five Tolzien. As the announcers said: “He finally gave up.”

Whether the players were actually trying to send a message to Tolzien or not, it is hilarious to see him aimlessly running around looking for love that no one wants to give him. At least the fans are loyal, even if they have to go to great lengths to show it.

This pic got out along with many others who have sent images and videos of protests that the Iranian government has attempted to cover up through its media clampdown. This is the second picture we have seen of an Iranian supporting an American sports team. Last time it was the Ohio State Buckeyes shirt which made our screens (see below). Its great to see sports fans supporting the fight against such cruel indecencies, wherever they may occur.

Mike Conley is reaping such benefits after his first year in the NBA with the Memphis Grizzlies. The former Ohio State Buckeye has been getting a taste of some hometown Columbus cooking lately with this beautiful babe that we presume is his girlfriend. It must be, I mean who lets any ordinary woman pick their nose for them.

We here at TPS would like to say” good job Mike.” If you first year went that well, just think about how much better it can get when you start putting up the big numbers. It may not be long before you are wheeling in women like Luana Belletti or <a title="Steven Gerrard Goes Ugly.
Texas Longhorns vs Ohio State Buckeyes

Fiesta Bowl Game Preview

The Texas Longhorns and the Ohio State Buckeyes, does it get much better for a Fiesta Bowl. Colt McCoy has been the leader of the Longhorns offense this season, setting school records in passing yards and touchdowns. The Heisman finalist led the Longhorns to a 11-1 record with the only loss coming to Texas Tech on the last play of the game. The Longhorns feel like they should be playing for the National Championship, however the BCS gave the Sooners the edge. The Longhorns must put that bitter feeling behind them as they prepare for a feisty Ohio State team that went 8-1 after its early season defeat to USC. The Buckeyes finished the season strong with freshman quarterback Tyrelle Prior at the helm.

Both teams feature tough defenses, that are stingy when it comes to giving up points. The Buckeyes and Longhorns both rank in the top 20 in scoring defense, giving up 13.1 and 18.6 points a game respectively. The Buckeyes should be familiar with their surroundings when they travel to Glendale, Arizona to play this game. This will be their fourth visit to the Fiesta Bowl in the last seven years but they also played a National Championship game against the Florida Gators in Glendale, Arizona.

Fiesta Bowl Game Prediction

Both defences should play well with alot at stake in this game, we like the Buckeyes defense over the Longhorns defense, but the Longhorns offense is more versitile and should create more big plays. Tyrelle Prior, will have to minimize his mistakes in this game for the Buckeyes to have a chance, that pressure should be taken off his shoulders by Chris “Beanie” Wells, the running back has had a injury filled season but should be prepared to shoulder the load in this game.

Fiesta Bowl Game Pick: Ohio State Buckeyes +8.5
