This is not the first time it has snowed in Las Vegas, 2 years this January 4th.  Very light flurries hit the Vegas Strip only to melt by the time they hit the ground.  That year they had the coldest winter in history.

Other city’s near Las Vegas are expected to get hit harder.  8 inches of snow will fall by the time the storm is over reports are confirming.

This is causing major havoc to flights in and out of Las Vegas, with cancellations across the board.  It has also caused a problem for the upcoming December 20th, Pioneer Las Vegas Bowl.  The BYU Cougars will be facing the Arizona Wildcats and hopefully this storm will pass so the teams will be able to get there safely.

Did you know that the participants in the BCS Bowl Games (The Football Players) receive benefits or so called gifts from the Bowl Game Sponsors?

No wonder the the NCAA doesn’t want to change the current BCS system to a playoff system like every other sport in college to determine a winner.  With all the TV deals and sponsorship money that the teams and the NCAA is making off these individual Bowl games, how can you change something that is making you millions upon millions of dollars?

What we find to be pretty odd is that if a potential manager or agent who is seeking a future prospect gives them a ride to the game, airport, or for that matter buys them dinner, the NCAA immediately cries about breaking the rules.  This so called gift or benefit does not go unnoticed by the NCAA, the player will most likely lose sometimes lose their scholarship and the school will also be handed a penalty.

So why is it right that the NCAA allows their sponsors to give gifts to the players in the Bowl Game and that potential agents or managers get reprimanded for this?

Just take a look at some of the gifts given to this years Bowl player participants, never mind the Championship Ring the school buys for the team, I would rather have these gifts.

Fair or not, that’s not for the fans to decide.  Rules for gifts and benefits to players we think have to be changed.  There is no reason why an athlete should not reap some of the rewards the school makes from their teams.  Were not saying to pay them millions of dollars, but along with the full ride, room and board, and food.  A weekly allowance should also be included so they can live a normal life like people who are not in the spotlight.
