The decision they made today has cemented that theory in concrete. The Lions have us scratching our heads, rubbing our eyes, talking to ourselves after their recent hire of ex-St. Louis Rams Offensive Coordinator Scott Linehan.

Linehan was fired by the Rams this year after an 0-4 start in which the team managed to score only 43 points, while giving up 147. This is the second time in three years that the Lions have turned to an ex-Ram for help, in 2006 they hired Mike Martz as their head coach. The move was a temporary fix, Martz led the Lions to a 6-2 start in 2007 before collapsing down the stretch.

At least the Lions should be better defensively with Gunther Cunnigham at the helm. It may be another decade before the Lions have any success, I feel bad for a team that has to look around town and compete with the success of the Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons and the MGM Casino. For a franchise in such disarray it does not make sense to me for them to hire coaches that have not been successful at the pro level.
