Poinsettia Bowl Game Preview

What a dream match up in the Poinsettia Bowl Game, the people of San Diego will be treated to a great game between the undefeated Bronco’s of Boise State and the always tough Horned Frogs of TCU.

The Bronco’s may have a bitter taste in their mouths as they were left out of a BCS Bowl Game, look for the Bronco’s to play with some extra enthusiasm. The Bronco’s will be tested up front, with a young offensive line, including two injuries, the unit will have its hands full with a TCU defense which ranks second against total offense, scoring, sacks and leads the nation in rush defense.

Unlike Boise State, the Horned Frogs have themselves to blame for missing their chance to play in a BCS Bowl. TCU dropped its two games against Top 10 opponents (Oklahoma and Utah) and finished the season 10-2. The Horned Frogs will also be challenged offensively as they take on the third ranked scoring defense. Joseph Turner, missed the final game of the season, but should be ready to play in this one. He is a difference maker, as he gives the Frogs a bruising back that can gain the tough yards. This Poinsettia Bowl Game features two teams that are fourth in combined ranking amongst the other combined teams, only the National Championship, Sugar, Fiesta and Rose Bowl are higher.

Poinsettia Bowl Game Prediction

The most anticipated non-BCS bowl game will be played in arguably the nicest city in the USA. We believe this game will have the makings of an ESPN Instant Classic (not surprising Boise State in the game).

The line seems to be just right as they have the Horned Frogs favored by a mere 2.5 points and we feel that the Bronco’s may get a taste of losing when this one is complete. Although, I hate to take against the mastermind Chris Peterson, we like the Horned Frogs chances in this one.

Total Pro Sports- We started our season of free college football picks on a sour note going 1-2 last week. This week we have three picks that will not dissapoint. College Football is not a predictable sport, however there are many games throughout the week that have favorable lines. Week 5 is no exception so let’s take a look at the games that we should be laying money on.

1. Alabama @ Georgia (-6.5, O/U 45)

Pick: Alabama Crimson Tide +6.5 This is a interesting game because the upstart Crimson Tide were not supposed to be atop the SEC at this point in the season. We like what Alabama brings into this game, the key to a road upset is within the arsonel of the Crimson Tide. They need their defense to continue to shut down the other teams offense, the running duo of Coffee and Ingram must be able to control the clock and keep Georgia’s offense of the field, and finally John Parker Wilson has to make plays in the passing game. The senior quarterback must play a large role in the offense for the Crimson Tide to have a chance. Take the points and the Tide on Saturday.

Matchup

SuperGrid

2. TCU @ Oklahoma (-18.5, O/U 53.5)

Pick: TCU Horned Frogs + 18.5 I think that the line makers don’t know these teams well enough. The Horned Frogs are no pushovers and that line is a little disrespectful. That’s not a problem for this team however, they enjoy being the underdogs. TCU has had recent success playing in Oklahoma, they were winners in their last two visits to Norman. Both teams have dominated opponents this year and this game features two teams in the top 25 power rankings. Take the points with the Horned Frogs.

Preview

SuperGrid

3. Illinois @ Penn State (-15.5, O/U 54.5)

Pick: Over 54.5 The Nittany Lions look nearly unstoppable on offense this season. The only team that has been able to slow them down is themselves if they can avoid turning the ball over they should be able to score some points. The Illini are no slouches of offense either, with Juice Williams behind centre the offense should be able to do enough to keep it within reach heading into the final quarter. We predict a 37-24 win for the Nittany Lions.

Preview

Matchup

SuperGrid

If you would like to go 3 for 3 on your picks this Saturday, take these and enjoy the money because Las Vegas is giving it away. These picks are strictly my opinion and there is obviously no guarantee, however, I know I’m going to win them all.

Be sure to check back next week for our free college football picks.
