Darvin Moon entered the final table, known as the “November Nine”, with an overwhelming chip lead, as he had nearly double the chip stack of second place Eric Buchman. Phil Ivey was the most notable player at the final table, being a seven time bracelet winner and widely regarded by many as the best no limit Texas Hold’em player in the world. However, Ivey made an early exit and after 276 hands, they were down to two players. Joe Cada outlasted 6,493 players to take home the bracelet and a check for $8 ,547,042.

Here is the final hand from the 2009 main event.

Don was in town hosting the Ante Up for Africa tournament with Annie Duke held at the Rio, it was a $5000 buy-in that raises money for the Not On Our Watch (NOOW) project, the group founded by Cheadle, George Clooney, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt that focus’ attention on stopping atrocities committed worldwide.

A lot of big names celebrities showed up for the event; Jason Kidd, Charles Barkley, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Adam Sandler, Ray Romano, Scott Ian, Kevin Pollack, Jason Alexander, Cheryl Hines, George Lopez, Joe Trohman, Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson, Andy Bloch, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Laak, Erik Seidel, Phil Gordon, Rafe Furst, Barry Greenstein and others.

The winner of the tourney was Johnny “World” Hennigan he won $136,860 and donated all of his winnings back to the charity.
