Here are just a couple things that may interest you:

UEFA World Cup Qualifying
Wednesday April 1

In the midst of UEFA all the Champions League, UEFA Cup, and league games, these players still have to make their home country’s proud and suit up in their national colors for World Cup Qualifying Games. With some tight races heating up at the top of some groups, ever game becomes critical now. Some games to keep and eye on this week: Republic of Ireland vs Italy; Ukraine vs England; Spain vs Turkey; Lithuania vs France.

NHL, New Jersey Devils vs Pittsburgh Penguins
Wednesday, April 1, 7:30 pm ET

The streaking Penguins will look to stay hot as they face the Eastern Conference’s 2nd place Devils. With Martin Brodeur back, the Devils have looked like legitimate Stanley Cup contenders, but the Penguins have had different ideas as of late. After tanking for the first 3/4 of the season, Crosby, Malkin and the Pittsburgh Penguins have regained the form that brought them to the finals just a year ago. Can they do it again? There are good chances that one of these teams could be playing for the big prize in the end.

NBA, Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Orlando Magic
Friday, April 3, 8pm ET

Another big matchup in a rejuvinated Eastern Conference. Not too long ago the list of teams in the Eastern Conference that could realistically compete with the Western Conference was maybe two at best. That list is slowly growing and you can attribute much of that to these two teams. Cleveland has been playing like a serious threat to win theChampionship all year, and Orlando has shown signs that they have the same intentions. These tow powerhouses will want to prove something one the court in this game.

NCAA Mens Basketball Tourney: Sweet 16
Begins Thursday, March 26 at 7:07pm ET

Its Sweet 16 time, and the action begins with the Purdue Boilermakers taking on the UConn Huskies. Can Purdue give UConn their first test? The rest of the night will also see Xavier battle Pitt, Missouri face the Memphis Tigers, and Villanova will lock up with Duke. Friday kicks off with the upbeat Arizona Wildcats taking on number 1 Louisville. Also for your viewing pleasure; Syracuse vs Oklahoma, Kansas vs Michigan St, and Gonzaga vs UNC.

NHL, Detroit Red Wings vs Calgary Flames
Monday, March 23, 9:30pm EST

The last time these two teams faced off, the Flames made a remarkable comeback don two goals late to find themselves up by a goal with less than a minute left. That was before the Red Wings tied it, but their heroics were once again thwarted as the Flames took the extra point in a shootout. Look for this edition to be just as exciting.

NBA, Denver Nuggets vs New Orleans Hornets
Wednesday, March 25, 8pm ET

If the playoffs started today, these two teams would be squaring off against each other in the first round as the number 4 and 5 seeds. This is a very likely playoff matchup and both teams will want to win this one as it may be an important factor in who gets home court advantage. The Chris Paul vs Chaunce Billups matchup is pretty intriguing as well, just to throw that in there.

NCAA Mens Basketball Tournament Play-in Game: Morehead St. vs. Alabama State
Tuesday, March 17, 7:30pm ET

What better way to get things started than a good ole play-in game. Both teams have a lot riding on this game as they square off in the Midwest region to see who will have the pleasure of getting run over by Rick Pitino’s Louisville Cardinals. Should be a thriller.

NCAA Mens Basketball Tourney: 1st Round Coverage
Begins Thursday, March 19 at 12:20pm ET

The real deal finally begins Thursday just after noon with the Butler Bulldogs taking on the LSU Tigers. That is just the beginning of a long day that will see other great matchups, including the Maryland Terrapins vs the Golden Bears of California, and the Michigan Wolverines vs the Clemson Tigers. Friday also has its share of great games, like the Tennessee Volunteers vs the Oklahoma State Cowboys, and Wisconsin Badgers vs the Florida State Seminoles. Its bracketology time!!

NHL, Chicago Blackhawks vs New Jersey Devils
Tuesday, March 17, 7pm EST

Two teams that seem to be somewhat under the radar will face off against each other in a cross conference matchup that is very likely to provide a ton of excitement. With young guns like Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, and Zach Parise dancing all over their ice, there are good chances that some highlight real goals will pop up at some point. Just be sure to keep your eyes glued to the screen. They could come faster than expected, although im sure Martin Brodeur will have something to say about that.

NBA, Miami Heat vs Boston Celtics
Wednesday, March 18, 7pm ET

May as well get in one last NBA game before the NCAA Tourney begins on Thursday, and what better game than D Wade’s Heat against Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and the Boston Celtics. Two of the stronger teams in the east should provde a great farewell game to those who will forget the NBA exists until the college hoops season is over.

The interests of many sports fans will also be doing their fair share of traveling as this week also showcases a key game between a couple of top Western Conference teams in the NHL and the second leg of the European Champions League quarterfinals.

Here are some games to keep an eye on:

UEFA Champions League
Tuesday, March 10 and Wednesday March 11 2:30 pm ET

After some great matches during the first leg of this round of 16, the second legs promise to be just as entertaining. On Tuesday, Liverpool will go home with a 1-0 aggregate lead on Real Madrid and should be able to hold off the Spanish powerhouse. As for Chelsea, their 1-0 lead is not as comforting. They will go into Juventus and hope to hold off the scrappy Italian club. On Wednesday, three games will begin level with the first leg matches finishing in draws. Porto will host Athletico Madrid, Barcelona will be at home against Lyon, and Manchester United will play host to Inter in what may be a matchup between Europes two best teams. As for the other game on Wednesday, Roma will go home down 1-0 to Arsenal, but still in a good position to keep their Champions League hopes alive.

NHL, Calgary Flames vs Detroit Red Wings
Thursday, February 12, 7pm EST

With the deadline acquisitions of Oli Jokinen and Jordan Leopold, many think the Flames are top contenders in the West. They will put that theory to the test on Thursday night at the Joe when they visit the defending cup champion Detroit Red Wings. This game should be an interesting on as both clubs are likely to be serious threats come playoff time. This could be a possible playoff series preview. What round is unknown with Detroit and Calgary sitting 2 and 3 respectively in the Western conference standings. Are Calgary’s late season moves enough to put them over the top?

NBA, The LA Lakers All Week!!!
Monday, March 9, 10pm ET at Portland; Wednesday, March 11, 8:30 pm ET at Houston; and Thursday, March 12, 8pm ET at San Antonio

Talk about a week from hell. The Lakers are about to get put to the test this week. Whether they come out on top or not should not dispute the fact that they will remain a top contender in the West. However, the end result of this road trip will decide whether people begin to question their superiority or not. The week starts Monday as they visit the 6th place Trail Blazers who play much better than a 6th place team at home. Then they will get one day of rest before traveling to Houston where they will play the 3rd place Rockets, two-faced team that shows their much brighter side on their home court. Finally, the week ends on Thursday with game one of the TNT doubleheader when the Lakers go into San Antonio and take on the 2nd place Spurs. This has the smell of Western conference finals preview all over it. Is there any way the Lakers can go through this unscathed?
With the NHL trade deadline coming at 3pm EST on Wednesday, there will be ample that day across major Canadian sport stations, and that means plenty of Pierre McGuire, Darren Dreger, Steve Kouleas and Nick Kypreos. Deadline Day leads off our list for this week:

NHL Trade Deadline
Wednesday, March 4, Ending 3pm EST

TSN, Sportsnet and the Score all are likely to have round the clock coverage and up to the second updates on all the events of the day. Some big names that may be on the move? How about Bill Guerin, Derek Morris, Jay Bouwmeester, Thomas Kaberle and Chris Pronger. And let’s not forget the possibilities of a surprise name getting put into the mix. Not only will Wednesday provide many stories, but the coming days also promise to create a lot of buzz.

NBA: Cleveland Cavaliers at Boston Celtics
Friday, March 6, 8pm EST

Another edition of the possible Eastern Conference Final Preview. Lebron James leads his Cavs into Boston to take on Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and the defending champion Celtics in what promises to be an intense game. This game will likely have large implications in the battle for home court advantage should they meet in the playoffs.

NBA: Dallas Mavericks at New Orleans Hornets, and Portland Trail Blazers at Denver Nuggets
Thursday, March 5, 8pm EST and 10:30 pm EST

This week’s TNT Thursday Night Doubleheader is another promising one with four teams jostling for playoff positions squaring off against each other. Nowitski leads his Mavs into The Big Easy to take on Chris Paul and the Hornets. After that, Brandon Roy will square off against Chauncey Billups in what should be an intriguing matchup. No shortage of implications here.

NCAA Mens Bball: (5)North Carolina vs Virginia Tech, (10)Marquette vs (1)Pittsburgh, (3)Oklahoma vs (8)Missouri
Wednesday, March 4, 7pm EST, 7:30pm EST and 9pm EST respectively.

With Selection Sunday two weeks from now, the top teams are making their final push to solidify number one rankings for the big tournament. Can Pittsburgh stay on top or does Blake Griffin and the Sooners have what it takes to be at the top.
This weeks is the first edition and what a week it is.

Here are some things to keep an eye on:

UEFA Champions League
Tuesday, February 24 and Wednesday February 25 2:30 pm EST

The round of 16 in the European club soccer’s most prestigious event begins on Tuesday with a full slate of key matchups. Athletico Madrid vs FC Porto, Lyon vs Barcelona, Arsenal vs Roma, and perhaps the most interesting, Inter vs Manchester United will all likely provide some great highlights and highly skilled matchups. As if that was not enough, Wednesday also has its fair share of stellar contests, featuring Real Madrid vs Liverpool and Chelsea vs Juventus.

NHL, San Jose Sharks vs Detroit Red Wings
Wednesday February 25, 7:30 pm EST

Two of the elite teams, and perhaps the two best teams, in the NHL square off in a matchup that could prove to be significant for the battle for home ice advantage in the Western Conference semi-finals. With the Sharks in first with 89 points and the Red Wings trailing them by three with three more games played, Detroit will need this one to stay in striking distance of San Jose down the final stretch. Watch for the battle of highly skilled players like Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau and Dan Boyle of the Sharks against Henrik Zetterberg, Marian Hossa, Pavel Datsyuk and Nicklas Lidstrom of the Red Wings. This should be a good one.

NBA, Cleveland Cavaliers vs Houston Rockets and Phoenix Suns vs LA Lakers
Thursday, February 26, 8pm EST and 10:30 pm EST

This week’s TNT double header has some flare to it. Lebron will take on Yao in the opener and Nash will battle Kobe in the late game. King James is always worth the air time and the Cavs trip into the West should be an interesting test for a team that looks to be a strong contender this year. As for the late game, the Suns may be hurt, but they are still lighting up the scoreboard. Can the Lakers defense slow them down?

Wednesday, February 25, 1pm EST

In case you haven’t noticed, baseball is not only about figuring out who is on steroids and who isn’t. They actually do play baseball games once in a while. The beginning of the Spring Training season begins on Wednesday. And where will the Yankees be? In Dunedin, Florida playing the Toronto Blue Jays.
