At first, I was surprised to hear that Thierry Henry was not among the French footballers involved in the prostitution scandal with 17-year-old (at the time) Zahia Dehar. However, it appears as though the newest member of the MLS’s New York Red Bulls has his eyes set on bigger and better things (…well maybe not bigger).

If Tony Parker does decide to sign a deal with the Knicks in the near future, he may want to keep Eva Longoria at home as long as Henry is sitting courtside.

Things haven’t been going well for the San Antonio Spurs this season. Not that its much cause for concern, since everyone knows they don’t really try until February at the earliest. That being said, they are looking especially old this year, with injuries piling up and their vaunted defense looking slower and slower. Apparently, though, they had time to film this ridiculous commercial. It’s funny, but it could definitely use more eye candy.

The commercial takes place on the set of a show that is based off of The Iron Chef. It features the Spurs big three, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker, as well as George “Iceman” Gervin. They are dressed in full chef gear in order to participate in some sort of mock HEB ice cream competition. Each creates his own “creamy creation” for the competition. The creations they make are disgusting and funny. Duncan’s Curry and Sweet Cream and Parker’s French Vanilla with Brie cheese are hilarious, but Ginobili’s unintelligible Chocolate with Chimichuli (Chimichili? Chilichumi?) is the weirdest looking.

In a sport where on-court talent translates to a movie career, this isn’t all that out of the ordinary. The truth is these guys have all the time in the world for fake cooking competitions, since all three of them have missed time already in this young 2009-2010 season. Keep cooking up great ice cream and silly commercials though guys, and I’m sure your team will have no trouble climbing out of the early hole they have dug themselves.

In attendance this year from the soccer world was Claudio Reyna, Thierry Henry, Javier Zanetti, Salomon Kalou, Ryan Babel, Giovanni van Bronckhurst, Mathieu Flamini, Ivan Cordoba, Adrian Mutu, and Edgar Davids. The basketball players who took part this year were Steve Nash, Tony Parker, Jason Kidd, Grant Hill, Chris Bosh, and Raja Bell.

The teams are mixed with players form both sports and it always draws a large crowd as it is not everyday that a North American soccer fan is given the opportunity to watch the likes of Henry or Kalou play live. If watching such soccer stars in action was not enough of a reason to attend, then seeing Chris Bosh play soccer was.

CB4 was not all that impressive on the soccer court, but his character and attitude made up for what he lacked in skill. His effort, sportsmanship, and sense of humor was one of the big topics during and after the game among players and fans alike. Maybe a contract with Toronto FC will help keep him interested in returning to the Raptors after next season.

In the mean time, here is a clip of the event. For more videos, visit The Offside.

The two headed out for a couple weeks in Europe, and they sure made great use of their passports. Taking of from Los Angeles, Parker and movie star wife Eva Longoria made their way through Cannes, Vienna, Rome, Paris and back to the French Riviera.

That gave them the opportunity to take in a couple of matches at the French Open, and catch the UEFA Champions League Finals as well. Unfortunately they didn’t get to stick around and celebrate with Lionel Messi. However, they were able to get in some more action at the beach, adding to the collection of hot Eva Longoria swimsuit pics. And my what a collection it is!

It’s great to see the two getting away and enjoying themselves, but I am still a little curious about their jet-ski pic. Shouldn’t they be riding together, rather than Parker riding with a male and Eva with a female? Just throwing it out there.

The most difficult one likely came from some crazy “wannabe old school” reporter who had the following to ask, or at least this is what is sounded like he was asking:

“Champ, Champ. Tell me about your fiery Francofile. The Parisian torpedo, Tony Parker. Can he continue to be your main butter and egg man and still crunk the boys from big D?”

That’s what we got from the question. Judging by his reaction, it sounds like we did better than Popovich, who responded by asking whether he was “getting punked”. I’m not sure if he was, but his Spurs sure are on the court. If there’s one question Greg should hope he can answer at this point, its how to come back in the series down 3-1.

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.

Here’s the video of the question at his press conference.

The player of the game was San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker who had 38 points, 8 assists and 4 rebounds in the win over the Mavericks. Ultimately making him “The Stat Line Of The Night” for Monday April 20th, 2009.

“You want to make sure I’m in attack mode every single play,” Parker said. “Even if it’s not to score, to penetrate for my teammates or make great cuts.”

He did it all against the Mavericks, who head back to Dallas for Game 3 on Thursday night. Dallas was trying to send the Spurs to consecutive home playoff losses for the first time since 2002, but couldn’t contain San Antonio’s speedy point guard.

Parker had 27 points in the first half and finished 16-of-22 from the floor. It was a marked difference from Game 1, when the Mavs let Parker score 24 but made him a non-factor in the second half, when he made just two field goals.

“First of all you have to meet the challenge,” Mavs guard Jason Terry said of guarding Parker. “We had four or five different guys on him.”

It still wasn’t enough. Parker had 19 points in the first quarter alone, equaling the Mavericks’ total.

Parker scores 38, adds eight assists to help Spurs level series – [SportsLine]

“We’re obviously going through a rough patch,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “We can’t seem to sustain what we’re tying to do offensively, and Golden State’s a high-scoring team.”

If Tony Parker and Tim Duncan can stay healthy look for the San Antonio Spurs to make a deep run in the 2009 NBA Playoffs.

The bench for the Western Conference consists of Tony Parker, Chauncey Billups, Brandon Roy, David West, Pau Gasol, Dirk Nowitzki, and Shaquille O’Neal. In the East, Devin Harris, Joe Johnson, Jameer Nelson, Paul Pierce, Rashard Lewis, Danny Granger, and Chris Bosh.

All 14 of these players definitely deserved it and have had good seasons up to this point. Unfortunately there is only room for 12 people on the All-Star roster, so there were a good amount of players who were snubbed this time around. Usually there is a few, but I feel that for the first time in a while there are so many players who could really have been on this reserve roster.

In the West, some players who could have deserved it also are Kevin Durant, Paul Millsap, Steve Nash, Carmelo Anthony, and Al Jefferson. The 2 people I feel out of these 6 that really should have gotten it over others are Kevin Durant and Paul Millsap. Durant is averaging 24.8 points per game, which is good enough for sixth in the NBA. Paul Millsap has numbers that are definitely All-Star worthy, but the fact that David West has Chris Paul as a point guard is what gets him on the team. With a player like that on your team, you become better and better day by day, and David West has taken full advantage of Paul.

I think the reason Durant didn’t get the spot was because of team record. The seven reserves all play on teams with winning records, and Oklahoma City is far from that at 11-35. The West was pretty spot on with their All-Stars, and the picks that were borderline didn’t bother me.

The East is a pretty good squad, and there aren’t that many snubs. The only possible others who had an outside shot were David Lee, Ray Allen, and Mo Williams. These 3 players have made great contributions to their respective teams so far this year, and all of them will play a big role on their NBA Finals run (in Allen and Williams’ case) or a playoff run (in Lee’s case). While all 7 East reserves definitely deserved it, I think this was the time for David Lee. He is averaging 16 points and 11 rebounds on an improving Knick team, and along with Chris Duhon, is a huge leader. Lee is having a great year, but since it is early in his career, it isn’t a total snub, as he has a bright future and will eventually earn a spot.

I wish the best of luck to all the reserves and the starters in the game, and for the end of this article I’m going to make my All-Star pick: East 141, West 135.
