Whether it is Canadians, Socialism, sports journalists, or all of the above, UFC middleweight fighter Chael Sonnen seemed to have some sort of beef with someone, or something, when he took part in an interview with Michael Landsberg for a Canadian sports show called Off The Record.

Sonnen, who is expected to face UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva for the title next year, stated in October that he would put his UFC career on the line if Silva agreed to do the same with his career as a middleweight fighter. However, Sonnen stated that the offer had “expired” in an interview one week later.

When asked by Landsberg why he “backed down” from the original offer, Sonnen immediately took aim at the host:

“You might want to take the base out of your tone, I’m not sure you know who you’re talking to here, but I’ve never backed down from anything, so check your facts,” Sonnen said.

Landsberg attempted to clarify his question, but it didn’t seem to help:

“What are you talking about?,” asked Sonnen. “What is this, your first day on the job? You’re mixing five different stories here. This is like doing amateur hour or something. What show am I on here? Is this for public radio?”

After going back and forth, Sonnen fired some shots at Landsberg’s home country of Canada, saying “in (America), that created business, offers expire…(Canadians) probably don’t do that in socialism, but in America, in a capitalistic society, that’s how things work.”

Sonnen also took the opportunity to poke fun at Canadian fighter and UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, calling him “Grease St-Pierre,” before eventually taking off his microphone and walking out on the interview in disgust.

Sure, Landsberg can be awfully annoying at times, but Sonnen’s crankiness towards Canada has me thinking that someone probably spit in his poutine prior to this interview. Here it is.

(Video)" href="http://www.totalprosports.com/2010/01/28/datsyuk-and-zetterberg-have-had-tremendous-what-video/" target="_self">“tremendous sex” that the Wings’ Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg have had together, there are always those couple of words that are bound to put one’s tongue in a knot.

TSN’s Darren Pang had one of those moments during the first intermission of last night’s game between the Canadiens and the Senators. When talking about the Habs’ young up-and-coming defenseman P.K. Subban and his knack for stirring the pot on the ice, Pang felt he should conduct himself in a manner similar to that of St. Louis Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo, who he believes does things “the right way.” However, those were not the words to come out of Pang’s mouth. Instead, he had a slight slip of the tongue, which caused him to say, “the white way.” And while that may not seem like such a big error, it was magnified due to the fact that Subban is black.

Pang apologized for the error during the next intermission, and it is obvious that his intentions were not to make any sort of racial judgments, but try telling that to both the Habs fans and the NAACP. Something tells me Panger’s email inbox is filling up by the minute.

Here are videos of the incident, the first being the slip of the tongue and the second being the apology.

In this instance, however, it is not hyperbole run amok. The Tampa Bay Lightning’s Steven Stamkos’ goal last night on the Anaheim Ducks was that damn good. The TSN hockey guys were practically drooling over it while they showed the highlight over and over again.

Ducks’ goalie Jonas Hiller was no match for Stamkos, as he got embarrassed almost as bad as this goalie did by Sweedish star Linus Omark. Stamkos came screaming towards the goal, so fast that he started to lose control. On his way down gracefully doing the splits, Stamkos had enough balance to quickly knock the puck out of mid air and beat Hiller top shelf where momma keeps the peanut butter.

The play couldn’t have come at a better time for Steven Stamkos, a second-year center who has 14 goals and 8 assists on the year. Executive Director of Team Canada Steve Yzerman was in the house, err, ice house scouting the game. Stamkos is considered to be on the bubble as far as making Team Canada for the 2010 Winter Olympics is concerned, so his highlight goal could not have come at a better time. Yzerman had to be impressed.

Check out the video of the most impressive goal of the season so far.

During the game, a 1-0 victory for the home side, two fans threw a couple of flares onto the field. One successfully landed there. The other fell on a woman’s lap, burning through her pants and causing a burn on her thigh. The two males responsible for the incident were caught and TSN.ca stated the following:

“Toronto police said two flares were thrown from the stands at BMO Field at the Major League Soccer game. One landed on a woman’s thigh, burning through her pants and causing a burn to her thigh. The other landed on the artificial turf, causing approximately $2,000 damage.”

Toronto is known for its lively and sometimes over the top fans, but is this too far? The sellout crowd of 19, 915 was happy to go home to a victory, but for the two youngsters caught in this act (Andjelo Franjic, 18, of Stoney Creek, Ontario and a 17-year-old, also of Stoney Creek, whose name cannot be released), they will now be charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and mischief under $5,000. That’s one costly game for them.

With the NHL trade deadline coming at 3pm EST on Wednesday, there will be ample that day across major Canadian sport stations, and that means plenty of Pierre McGuire, Darren Dreger, Steve Kouleas and Nick Kypreos. Deadline Day leads off our list for this week:

NHL Trade Deadline
Wednesday, March 4, Ending 3pm EST

TSN, Sportsnet and the Score all are likely to have round the clock coverage and up to the second updates on all the events of the day. Some big names that may be on the move? How about Bill Guerin, Derek Morris, Jay Bouwmeester, Thomas Kaberle and Chris Pronger. And let’s not forget the possibilities of a surprise name getting put into the mix. Not only will Wednesday provide many stories, but the coming days also promise to create a lot of buzz.

NBA: Cleveland Cavaliers at Boston Celtics
Friday, March 6, 8pm EST

Another edition of the possible Eastern Conference Final Preview. Lebron James leads his Cavs into Boston to take on Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and the defending champion Celtics in what promises to be an intense game. This game will likely have large implications in the battle for home court advantage should they meet in the playoffs.

NBA: Dallas Mavericks at New Orleans Hornets, and Portland Trail Blazers at Denver Nuggets
Thursday, March 5, 8pm EST and 10:30 pm EST

This week’s TNT Thursday Night Doubleheader is another promising one with four teams jostling for playoff positions squaring off against each other. Nowitski leads his Mavs into The Big Easy to take on Chris Paul and the Hornets. After that, Brandon Roy will square off against Chauncey Billups in what should be an intriguing matchup. No shortage of implications here.

NCAA Mens Bball: (5)North Carolina vs Virginia Tech, (10)Marquette vs (1)Pittsburgh, (3)Oklahoma vs (8)Missouri
Wednesday, March 4, 7pm EST, 7:30pm EST and 9pm EST respectively.

With Selection Sunday two weeks from now, the top teams are making their final push to solidify number one rankings for the big tournament. Can Pittsburgh stay on top or does Blake Griffin and the Sooners have what it takes to be at the top.

Total Pro Sports – If anyone missed this last night, Sean Avery was suspended by the NHL for his comments toward Dion Phaneuf. All events were recorded by a Canadian Sports Channel, “TSN”. Sean Avery came from nowhere and jumped in front of the cameras to let the world know he had something to get off his mind. Well can you guess what he said?

“I just wanted to comment on how it’s become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds. I don’t know what that’s about. But, enjoy the game tonight.” said Avery.

Classic or just stupidity? The vote is in and the employees at the Total Pro Sports office have voted a tie. Sean Avery has been known over the years for his dumb antics. The Brodeur incident during the playoffs, the Darcy Tucker argument during pre game warm ups, need we continue?

In a way, Sean Avery was right, we don’t want to make his head any bigger then it is already but look at the facts. He said that “guys, specifically hockey players, fall in love with his Sloppy Seconds“. It’s true, Elisa Cuthbert is a Puck Bunnie, she was dating Sean Avery, then linked to Mike Komisarek and now All Star Defenseman Dion Phaneuf. So in a way, he’s right

It seems as if Sean Avery needs the media attention, someone like this was made for Hollywood, not the NHL. He is definitely a good hockey player but he could probably make more money in Hollywood.

We recomended all to watch this video. Please dont take offense to the remarks.
