As a result, we figured it would be a good idea to give you a glimpse of what is going on at this year’s Main Event, but rather than focusing on the actual poker, we are going to turn our attention towards the lovely ladies that you can find both at the tables and along the railings on the casino floor at the WSOP.

Total Pro Sports – It sure is hot in Las Vegas these days.  So hot that even bras are being sacrificed to help keep some ladies cool.  Only problem is that may become somewhat distracting in the poker rooms at the WSOP.  Too bad they can’t try this on the tennis courts.

With that being said, we bring you exhibit A: Brad Garrett‘s (Robert from Everybody Loves Raymond) girlfriend, Isabella.  Camera’s caught a glimpse of this hottie watching her man shoot some cards, and its a good thing they did.  Sporting a light blue tank-top, Isabella’s breasts are visible to the naked eye and they look fabulous.  I wonder if Phil Ivey has placed any bets on their size?  I’ll put $100 on 32B.

The main event is currently under way and last year’s champion, Peter Eastgate, is still in contention.  At least someone isn’t being distracted by Isabella’s rack.

That may sound odd, with the winning prize being only $96,361, but for Phil it wasn’t about the prize money.  It was all about the side bets.  Ivey is known for his knack to increase the stakes, and that was exactly what he was faced with at the final table of this tournament, one of the many offered at the World Series of Poker.  No one (besides Phil) is clear on the exact amount of money he won as a result of his earning this bracelet, but one reliable source indicated that they heard him say his possible payout would be $12 million.

“You may have heard that Ivey bet a lot of money on himself to win a bracelet at last year’s WSOP, and he came up short. (His best finish was 9th.) Rumors swirled that he increased the action on himself this year in a wider variety of bets. There were the standard bets on whether or not he would win a bracelet, and he also has several head-to-head bets with players like Erick Lindgren to see who could win more bracelets. (So those players still have a chance to tie Ivey by winning a bracelet of their own this year — which could save them hundreds of thousands of dollars or more.)”

So much for just the simple joy of taking home the bracelet and prize money that often comes with victories at the WSOP.  Many of the pros are known for adding a little more bread to the basket, but in Phil’s case, he added a whole five course meal.  Now with the added incentive brought about by these side bets, look out for Phil Ivey in the main event.  He may very well have some business to take care of on the side.

Early into the wee hours of the morning, and after 104 hands of heads up play Peter Eastgate is the winner of the 2008 World Series Of Poker Main Event. Peter Eastgate becomes the first ever Danish Main Event winner, and now the youngest WSOP Main Event winner in history a title held by Phil Hellmuth for nearly twenty years.

“It’s incredible. It’s great to have this record. Phil Hellmuth wished me luck yesterday.”

Eastgate wins a total of $9,152,416 USD for first place and the second most in WSOP history behind Jamie Gold. Ivan Demidov wins $5,809,595 for second place, not bad for basically 5 months of work for both.

“Well, I guess I haven’t really realized how big this is. I’m sure in the next day or week I will become more emotional.” says, Eastgate after an emotional win.

The 104th and final hand went like this – Peter Eastgate limped on the button, and Ivan Demidov checked the big blind. Eastgate bet out 1.25 million on a 2DKS3H flop, Demidov called. Ivan Demidov checked the turn which brought the 4C, and Peter Eastgate bet 2 million. Demidov then check raised to 6 million, putting in half his stack to the pot. Eastgate made the call. As soon as the river fell 7S, Ivan Demidov announced an all-in. Peter Eastgate snap called, and Demidov flipped over 4H2H for two pairs and Eastgate had AD5S for the wheel straight and the winner of the hand.

Peter Eastgate jumps into the top 5 all time money list with his $9,152,416 victory at the 2008 Main Event.

These females may distract you at the poker table with their good looks, but do not mistake their physical characteristics for weakness, these woman can play the game. To find a beautiful woman who would consider going out and playing poker with their own money, makes them that much more desirable.

1. Shana Hiatt, WPT/Poker After Dark Hostess. No need to like poker here, all a reason more to watch the game. Shanna first got her start in poker announcing on the World Poker Tour, and then signing on with Poker After Dark.

2. Shannon Elizaeth, Actress/Poker Player. What would you do if Nadia from American Pie sat down next to you at the poker table, we know what Jim would do. This actress turned semi pro poker player, has had some pretty decent results. Cashing in 4 WSOP events and finishing 3rd in the NBC’S National Heads Up Poker Championship.

3. Erica Schoenberg, Poker Player. Most famous for playing strip poker on TV and pro poker player David Benyamine’s girl friend. I know I would include her in my strip poker game.

4. Vanessa Rousso, Poker Player. Sometimes I wonder why she always wears a hat and those over sized glasses? I think it may be best if she always kept them on!

5. Jennifer “Jennicide” Leigh, Playboy model/Poker Player. How much better can you get in a girl being a poker player and a playboy model, only if more woman could be like Jennifer.

We got moved to the Amazon Room(The main room were all the action takes place in the Wsop). The first hand I made a huge raise, blinds were 100-200 with a 25 ante, 2 limper’s in front and I make it 1000 to go with Akos. Everyone folds to some online player who looked like he had been up for a week straight. He starred me down for a bit till he decided to move all his chips in 5900 total. I was confused, why would he limp out of position and then move all his chips in? He made some weird plays all day, and again I thought this was one of them. When I’m raising 5 times the big blind, I’m letting everyone know I got a big hand. Doesn’t he believe me? or does he think he can push me off my AK. I took about 4 minutes to think about what I was gonna do; I had I’m on a hand like 55, 66, 77 or even like an A10, AJ, AQ hands, I finally called and he quickly flipped over AQ os. I was huge if I won this I would be up to 18000 chips and probably top 15 in the tourney at the time. Flop comes J87, turn 8, river 7. A chopped pot, after all this and making such a tough call it resulted in a chopped pot. Stupid online donk!

The second hand I got involved in was with David “The Dragon” Pham who also got seated at our table in the Amazon Room. All I can say about David is “Cannon”, he is a great player who mixes it up all the time. It’s really hard to put him on a hand. Anyways, David raises preflop to about 1275, and I look down and have AJ clubs in position, so I call. Flop comes low, 648 with 2 hearts, David fires 2200 and I call. Setting up a bluff for the river, turn comes a 9 spades, David checks and I ask how many chips he has left, “3300″ he says. River, 10 of hearts, making a 2 way straight and a heart flush. The Dragon again checks and I go in the tank for a bit. I think I should go all in here cause he may think I have a flush or a straight. So I push, he goes in the tank for about 5 minutes and calls. I say, nice call David, what do you have, he opens Aces, lol, I insta fold without opening. This got me down to about 8500 chips and total down hill from there on in the tourney.

I finally got knocked out with 400 people left and top 270 getting paid. Early position opens for a raise and I move all in with 1010. Everyone folds and he snap calls with AA, flop comes 10, J, 8, 2 diamonds, turn 9 of diamonds giving him the diamond draw, river 4 of diamonds. I loose, I guess I can’t really be that mad, I had the worst hand preflop and sucked out on the flop. Anyways, that’s poker and gambling for you, as David said to me when I went back to rail the table “Up and down like a yo-yo, you know how it is!”

A recent news report has indicated the Oakland Raiders wide receiver Javon Walker was found unconscious and badly beaten on a street somewhere in Las Vegas (Fox). Walker is said to have suffered a broken orbital bone and now is stable condition. It seems to me that Walker has had a rough time lately, on and off the field.

It started in Green Bay when he tore his ACL after a breakout year in 2004, where he totaled 1,382 yards and 12 td’s. After that year he decided to hold out of training camp for a bigger contract, much to the displeasure of then Packers quarterback Brett Favre. The Packers then traded Walker to the Denver Broncos. It was in Denver where he experienced many highs and lows. In 2006 Walker accumulated 1,084 yards and 8 touchdowns, pretty solid numbers. However, on New Years Eve 2006, Walker and other members of the Denver Broncos were victims of a drive by shooting. Darrent Williams a promising young cornerback was shot in the neck and died in the arms of Javon Walker in the back of a Hummer limousine. It seems like this incident should have changed Walkers perspective on clubs, I guess not.

In 2007, Walker had another off year stat wise only catching 26 passes for 287 yards and 0 touchdowns. These numbers were due in large part to re injuring his problematic knee. The history of injuries did not stop the Oakland Raiders from signing walker to a big money free agent contract after the Broncos released him. The deal is worth $55 million over a span of six year with a reported $16 million in guaranteed money.

It has been reported that Walker purchased somewhere around 15 bottles of Dom Champaign at Tryst nightclub in Las Vegas, he reportedly did not drink the bottles, instead he sprayed them on the crowd. I do not blame Walker for the events that led up to him being the victim of a severe beating, but I will question why he felt the need to spend the night in Vegas buying 15 bottles of Champaign. There are many other things that he could be doing with his off season time, like rehabbing his knee maybe? It seems to me that many NFL players have a hard time learning how to carry themselves in public and because of this they find themselves in all sorts of trouble, just ask Pac man Jones or Chris Henry. If there is one thing I can say for sure about Javon Walker, don’t pick him in your fantasy pool.
