I just lost Tom Brady for the season, which QB should I add from the waiver wire?
Bobby – Vancouver
That is a great question Bobby, as I’m sure you and thousands of other fantasy owners have been losing sleep of this in the last couple of nights since Brady went down. Along with Brady being injured in week one other starters who went down and are expected to miss a significant amount of time include Vince Young and Brody Croyle. The best option that you could add to your team right now could be Damon Huard. Huard had solid season in 2006 posting 11 tds and 1 int in 8 games started. He finds himself playing behind a weak offensive line in KC but does have some weapons to help him in the form of Larry Johnson, Tony Gonzalez, and Dwayne Bowe. The next best back up you might want to consider adding is Kerry Collins, or possibly Matt Cassel but be careful because the Patriots are trying out new QBs this week.
Who should I start this week at wide receiver? I have Braylon Edwards, Brandon Marshall, and Plaxico Burress.
Wow Wally, it seems like you have a lot of depth at the wr position which is definitely a good thing. Braylon Edwards had a tuff week against the Cowboys dropping a couple of passes including one guaranteed touchdown. He also had a couple of penalties which really cost his team. Things won’t get any easier for his this week as the Browns play the Steelers. I think that he might be worth the start as he has a lot to prove. Plaxico Burress is must start as he the main man for the Giants and because he plays the woeful St. Louis Rams in week 2. Brandon Marshall is coming off a league imposed suspension and the Broncos are playing the Chargers. As my old football coach used to say “there is nothing worse than a wounded bear” so stay away from starting him as the Chargers will still be bitter from their week one loss to the Panthers.
Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan both had great games in week one. Which player has the best potential for this season?
Well Steve, I think that both QBs looked poised in their introduction to the Nation Football League. However, Matt Ryan appears to be inline for a better season than Joe. They both play in similar divisions with two good teams and two not so good teams. Right now it seems as if Flacco has a better team around him. The Ravens D looked like the team that won the Super Bowl as they shut down the Bengals all day in week 1. The Falcons D looked good at times, but keep in mind they were playing the Lions. If Flacco stumbles the Ravens will not hesitate to replace him with Troy Smith, unlike Ryan in Atlanta who does not have anyone pushing him for playing time. So right now Matt Ryan looks primed to have a great season but as you know in the NFL this could all change come week two.
