NFL Players OF Week 1
Total Pro Sports NFL Players OF Week 1
Here are the players who put up the biggest numbers during the first week of the National Football League. Make notes of these players as we for see them bringing your fantasy football team huge numbers later on in the year.
Best Offensive Player- Michael Turner, RB, Atlanta Falcons,
Long considered the best back-up in league when he played in San Diego behind Ladanian Tomlinson, in week 1 Turner introduced himself to the rest of the league in a big way. The thick legged and speedy Turner burned through the Lions D on his way to a 220 yard 2td performance on just a measly 22 carries.
Honorable mention:Donovan McNabb, QB, Philadelphia Eagles.
Best Offensive Rookie- Matt Forte, RB, Chicago Bears,
Playing under the bright lights of Sunday night football this rookie out of Tulane seemed unfazed by the millions of people watching or the Indianapolis Colts defense. Forte had himself a great day with 23 carries for 123 yards and 1 td in one of the biggest upsets of week 1. The Bears seem to have finally found the player they have been looking for since the they let go of Thomas Jones for nothing before last season.
Honorable mention: Chris Johnson, RB, Tennessee Titans.
Best Defensive Player- Ellis Hobbs, DB, New England Patriots,
When Tom Brady went down early in week 1 against the Patriots most people knew that the Pats D would have to step up big if they were to win the game. Well, the D never really played all that well as the game went down to the final play the KC could not convert. The best player on the defensive side of the ball for the Pats was undoubtedly Ellis Hobbs, who stuffed the stat sheet with three tackles 1interception, 1sack, and 1 forced fumble.
Honorable mention: John Abraham, DE, Atlanta Falcons.
Best Defensive Rookie- Kendall Langford, DE, Miami Dolphins,
After a slow week by all the more heralded rookies who were selected well ahead of him in the years draft, Lanford had a solid game for the Fins in a losing effort. This guy was sack machine at Hampton and wasn’t even the first defensive end selected by the Dolphins as they took Philip Merling in the second round and Langford in the third. He recorded 3 tackles and one sack on what was a very slow day for the leagues rookie. Langford could be a solid addition for your team if you play in an IDP league.
Honorable mention: Derrick Harvey, DE, Jacksonville Jaguars.
