2008/09 Nashville Predators Season Preview
3. Nashville Predators
Bit of a question mark with this team, mostly in net and up front. Their forward group isn’t terrible, but no one really stands out. Jason Arnott, J.P. Dumont and Martin Erat headline the forwards. David Legwand will be looking for a rebound season and both Steve Sullivan and Alexander Radulov are big wild cards that could either make or break this team.
On the back end the Predators have a great young core with Dan Hamhuis, Kevin Klein, Ville Koistinen and Shea Weber. Greg de Vries adds the stable veteran leadership and Ryan Suter will be looking to establish himself among the elite of the young defenceman in the NHL.
Dan Ellis pretty much came out of nowhere and played great against Detroit in the playoffs last season. However, I’m always wherry of goaltenders who seemingly come out of nowhere and play great but for only a short amount of time. Pekka Rinne is a solid backup but isn’t good enough to bail out the team if Dan Ellis falls flat on his face this season.
If Sullivan and Radulov both end up playing with Nashville and Ellis continues his great play from last year’s playoffs the Predators could very well be fighting Chicago for second in the division…I’m not holding my breath though.
