Blake Wheeler Scores An Amazing Goal

Blake WheelerTotal Pro Sports – The Boston Bruins continue to keep winning and scoring unbelievable goals.  Last night it is was Blake Wheeler against the St. Louis Blues, the Bruins broke out of their own end shorthanded, made the outlet pass to Wheeler, who dangled between 4 Blues defenders and the goalie to score an amazing goal.  Already considered the goal of the year in the NHL this year, this immediately puts Blake Wheeler atop the list of 2009 Calder Trophy nominees for Rookie Of The Year.

“I initially was looking to make a pass back to Krejci,” said Wheeler, tied with St. Louis’ Patrik Berglund for the NHL rookie goals lead with 11. “He kind of abandoned me. He went off for a change and the only thing I could do was react. There was a guy coming at me and I just kind of reacted. I got lucky.”

Blake Wheeler was drafted out of the University Of Minnesota Golden Gophers, by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 1st round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.  This is his first season playing in the NHL and is already off to a brilliant start for the first place Boston Bruins.  In 33 games he has 11 goals and 9 assists for 20 total points.

We’ll just have to wait and see if the brilliance of this young rookie continues and the dominance of the Boston Bruins doesn’t slowly fade away.

Do you think the Coyotes are kicking themselves for not signing him to a contract now?
