Emerald Bowl Game: Preview
The Miami Hurricanes and California Golden Bears may be quiet a distance apart geographically but they shared similarities as to the way their seasons played out. The Hurricanes have enjoyed success the last few decades as this is their 23rd bowl appearance in the last 26 years. They have won 8 of their last 10 bowl games and are returning to the postseason following a 5-7 record last year.
The Golden Bears also had bigger dreams this season, however, key loses have them playing near home in the Emerald Bowl. California, like Miami will be playing its back up quarterback in the bowl game. Kevin Riley will get the start in this game over senior Nate Longshore for the Golden Bears and on the other sideline the Hurricanes will be without Robert Marve as he violated academic rules. Both teams have had impressive victories against Top 25 teams, Miami has wins over the likes of Wake Forest and Virginia Tech, while California has beaten Michigan State and Oregon.
Emerald Bowl Game: Prediction
The Bears have featured a hard-nosed running attack led by Jahvid Best, the ninth leading rusher in the nation. The Hurricanes have had little success against the run the final two games of the season. The Canes allowed 472 rushing yards against Georgia Tech and 219 to NC State. The Golden Bears will be a short drive from home, while the Hurricanes travel across the country.
Emerald Bowl Game Pick – California Golden Bears (-8)
