Ovechkin Is The Best Player In The NHL, Bar None

OvechkinTotal Pro Sports – If you witnessed what happened in last nights game between the Washington Capitals and the New York Rangers, you cannot deny that Alex Ovechkin is the best hockey player in the world.

The Washington Capitals were trialling 4-0 on the road at Madison Square Gardens, in a tough arena for visiting opponents.  The noise, the atmosphere, the die hard Rangers fans makes this venue a tough place to play, but the Washington Capitals who were lead by Ovechkin came from behind to win the game in overtime 5-4.

Alex Ovechkin and Niklas Backstrom willed the Capitals to victory in this game after their flat and lackluster start through the first 30 minutes of the game.  Ovechkin scored 2 goals and 1 assist and Backstrom added 3 assists. The Capitals also did it without their top 2 defencemen in Tom Poti and Mike Green, and with their leading goal scorers Alexander Semin, all out with injuries.

If the Capitals can find a No. 1 goalie they definitely have a shot a becoming a legitimate Cup contender.  But if they stick with Brent Johnson and Jose Theodore, they’ll be no better then an average team heading into the NHL playoffs.
