NHL Fantasy 3 Stars: Week 17

Mike GreenTotal Pro Sports – For the first time all year we have a defenceman as the 1st Star and no it isn’t Chara.

This week’s honorable mention goes to Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals. Last week Ovie put up 5 goals and 1 assist for 6 points with two of those points coming on the power play. He also registered 18 shots on goal and a plus/minus rating of plus-1. Ovechkin has been nothing but a fantasy stud so far this year and playing with guys like Alexander Semin and Nicklas Backstrom his production shouldn’t be dropping anytime soon.

Lets take a look at the NHL Fantasy 3 Stars for Week 17.

3rd Star – Jamie Langenbrunner (RW), New Jersey Devils

Known more for his scoring and point producing during the playoffs, Langenbrunner showed he’s more than capable of producing some points during the regular season as well. Jamie put up 6 goals and added 1 assist for 7 points. He also had one of those points on the power play, 17 shots on net and a plus/minus rating of plus-5.

2nd Star – Evgeni Nabokov (G), San Jose Sharks

Looks like it’s not just Joe Thornton and Dan Boyle helping the Sharks remain a top the Western Conference. Nabokov had himself a terrific week collecting 2 wins while posting a 1.35 GAA, .952 SAV% and 2 shutouts. With the recent struggles in Detroit it’s given San Jose some breathing room, but Evgeni likes to play a lot of games so don’t expect to see the Sharks starting to rest him anytime soon.

1st Star – Mike Green (D), Washington Capitals

Mike Green is proving that last year’s break out season wasn’t luck or a flash in the pan. Last week Green put up 3 goals & 4 assists for 7 points with 3 of those points coming on the power play. He also put up 4 penalty minutes, 14 shots on goal and a plus/minus rating of plus-3. Not bad for a defenceman.

Remember to check back in next week to see who the NHL Fantasy 3 Stars will be for Week 18.
