Ryan Howard Signs Extension With Phillies
Total Pro Sports – Ryan Howard has agreed to a 3 year $54 million contract that will keep him with the Phillies through the 2011 season.
Howard is an absolute monster in the National League, in 2006 he won the NL MVP and last year he led the majors with 48 home runs and 148 RBI’s helping his Philadelphia Phillies win the World Series for the first time since 1980.
“I’m happy to have this done and to know that I’ll be in Philadelphia for at least another three years,” Howard said Sunday.
A player that was drafted in the 5th round of the MLB draft in 2001 you can bet that all the teams that passed on him 5 times over are kicking themselves now. Ever since moving into the starting lineup for good on July 1, 2005, Howard leads the majors in home runs (174) and RBIs (493).
At an average of about $18 million a season resigning Ryan Howard was a steal for the Phillies.
