Mathieu Schneider Traded Back To Montreal
Total Pro Sports- The Montreal Canadiens have traded for Atlanta Thrashers defenseman Mathieu Schneider.
The Thrashers sent Schneider along with a conditional 2009 draft pick to the Canadiens in exchange for a 2009 second round pick and a 2010 third rounder. Schneider will be returning to the team that he won a Stanley cup with in 1993. The Habs are thrilled to add the offensive defenseman to their line-up and Schneider seems thrilled to be back in Quebec.
“Some of the best years of my career were in Montreal. The organization has always been I think at the top of the NHL. It’s a team that everyone aspires to be like. There’s just so much pride in the Canadiens in the city. Being a part of that is really something special.” (CBC)
G.M. Bob Gainey has never been a stranger to making moves and I suspect there could be more as the trade deadline approaches. The Canadiens are underachieving this year Gainey has made no secret of his teams desire to add more players. Vicent Lecavalier is still rumored to be heading the Canadiens way and if Gainey can pull of that move, he will be a hero in Montreal.
