Manny Ramirez Biography Hits The Shelves
Total Pro Sports – The long awaited authorized biography of Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Manny Ramirez has finally hit the shelves. Although, he did not write the book, I’m sure Manny did his fare share of work for the project. “Becoming Manny” is a look into the life of one Americas favorite ball players, it was written by Jean Rhodes and Shawn Boberg. It was released this earlier month and is destined to be a best seller.
I like Manny Ramirez because he really doesn’t care about what people think. So many professional athletes speak in cliches and never express their true feelings, but Manny does whatever he wants. The same could be said for his on field antics. Who said high-fiving a fan while your catching a fly ball is bad? not Manny. I definitely want to read this book, just to learn more about how Manny became Manny.
One of the best quotes I’ve seen from the book illustrates Manny’s studious nature.
“If He Made it to class, it was to practice writing his autograph” (LATimes)
I think that if more players were like Manny professional sports would be a lot better. Often, players forget that they are among the luckiest people on the planet, who get to play the sports they loved as a children for a living.
