The Stat Line Of The Night – 3/29/09 – Roberto Luongo
Total Pro Sports – The Vancouver Canucks won their 41st game of the season beating the Chicago Blackhawks 4-0 in Chicago. The Canucks were lead by the Burrows and Sedins line who were in on 3 of the 4 goals cored and totaled 9 points together.
But the story of the game was none other then Vancouver Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo who recorded his 46th career shutout in yesterdays game. Luongo made 26 saves against the Chicago Blackhawks matching his career highs for shutouts in a season with 7.
“Luongo, who also had seven shutouts with Florida in 2003-04, made only a couple of tough saves en route to his 45th career shutout as the Canucks checked closely, neutralized the Blackhawks’ speed and limited their chances. Chicago’s Patrick Sharp fanned on a penalty shot with 5:41 left in the third period.”
If Roberto Luongo can stay on his game and Mats Sundin can find his playoff form, the Vancouver Canucks will roll deep into the playoffs this year.
