Arsenal Loss Enough To Make Kenyan Commit Suicide
Total Pro Sports – Some soccer fans support their team with all their heart. Others with their life. That was the case with a Kenyan man, Suleiman Omond, who decided to commit suicide when Arsenal lost 3-1 to Manchester United in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final match.
The 29 year old diehard fan (pardon the pun) was found hanging from his Arsenal jersey after the defeat that sent the English club packing from the tournament comprised of the best club teams in Europe. Suleiman was watching the game at a bar when bar attendants said they had to intervene after he lunged at a man who suggested Arsenal would not recover from conceding two early goals, going down 3-0 in aggregate.
A bar patron who wished not to be named said “he took some drinks and broke down in tears within the final minutes of the match”. (Reuters)
So it is now anyone’s guess as to whether he was simply a fan of the Gunners, or was in for a whole lot of money after betting on the losing side. One can only wonder what Kieran Gibbs, the Arsenal defender whose fall early in the game led to the first goal, feels about all this (as if he didn’t feel bad enough about costing his team the game already).
