Mr. Irrelevant Is Anything But That
Total Pro Sports – The 2009 edition of Mr. Irrelevant has all of a sudden become very relevant to the Kansas City Chiefs. Picked last in this year’s NFL Draft, kicker Ryan Succop is the first player chosen by the Chiefs to sign with the team. And to show how relevant he is, they have reportedly offered him a 3-year deal worth $1.2 million. Doesn’t everybody wish they were that irrelevant.
The former South Carolina Gamecock was taken with the 256 pick by the Chiefs but will now compete with second-year player Connor Barth for the starting job.
Mr. Irrelevants have never produced the greatest players and we don’t expect Ryan Succop to be the next Adam Vinateri, but as long as he can stick with the club and get his money, I’m sure he will have no problem with being deemed irrelevant. After all, isn’t that what a kicker aims for?
