The Stat Line Of The Night – 06/22/09 – Aaron Cook

aaron-cookTotal Pro Sports – With not much to chose from in the world of sports last night, Aaron Cook did impress, but so too did the rest of his team in an 11-1 dismantling of the Los Angeles Angels.  We likely should be presenting this award to the entire team, but things just don’t work that way, so here we are.

Although he could have given up plenty more, Aaron Cook worked seven innings allowing only three hits and one run over that span.  He also struck out four batters before giving way to the bullpen.  It was that slow yesterday in the world of sports and Cook profited from it, earning himself honors as “The Stat Line Of The Night” for Monday June 22nd, 2009.

The Colorado Rockies are once again on a roll, with last night marking their sixth win in a row and they have now won 17 of their last 18.  Sadly enough, they still remain 9 games out of first place in their division.  How so?  A combination between their slow start and the Dodgers remarkable strong opening months.  They will need to string together some more streaks if they want to land atop the NL West.
