The Stat Line Of The Night – 06/29/09 – Tim Lincecum

tim-lincecumTotal Pro Sports – The St. Louis Cardinals were left to accept the fact that last night was just one of those games they were not going to win.  The visiting San Francisco Giants put up one run in the first inning, and although they followed that with nine more throughout the rest of the game, they would not need any with Tim Lincecum on the mound.

Going for his eight win of the season, Lincecum pitched nine shutout innings of two-hit ball to lead the Giants to the 10-0 victory against a team that they may eventually be abttling for a wild card when September rolls around.  Lincecum was almost untouchable, striking out eight while allowing just a double to Albert Pujos and a single to Rick Ankiel, earning himself “The Stat Line Of The Night” for Monday, June 29th, 2009.

Lincecum now sits atop the league in strikeouts and is third in ERA.  He is also not far off the pace in wins as the Major League leaders have ten and the National League leaders currently sit at nine.  Should he continue to post similar performances to last night’s, another CY Young may be headed his way.
