The Stat Line Of The Night – 07/05/09 – Ricky Nolasco

ricky-nolascoTotal Pro Sports – Beating the Pittsburgh Pirates is no incredible feat these days, but such wins are crucial if a team is to consider themselves as a serious playoff contenders.  Ricky Nolasco made sure his Florida Marlins got that win with an excellent pitching performance yesterday afternoon.

Looking to improve on his ERA while getting his sixth win in the process, Nolasco pitched a strong eight innings and had the Pirate bats stymied in a 5-0 victory.  Posting the shutout, he also managed to record an impressive 12 strikeouts while only allowing three hits, earning himself “The Stat Line Of The Night” for Sunday, July 5th, 2009.

After a rough April and May, Nolasco picked it up in June recording a 3-1 record and he has now given himself a great start to the month of July.  His consistency may very well be the key to solidifying the middle of the rotation for the Marlins and helping them slip into top spot of the NL East.
