The Stat Line Of The Night – 07/13/09 – Jamie Moyer

jamie-moyerTotal Pro Sports – Back from the All-Star break and after the first night of games it appears as though no one has benefited more from the time off than 46-year-old Jamie Moyer.  The veteran starting pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies looked to be in top form last night in Florida as his team took on the Marlins.

It is tough for such an aged arm to go the complete game, but Moyer did enough in his seven innings of work to warrant our recognition.  During his time on the mound, he allowed only one hit, one walk, and struck out four, leading the Phillies to the 4-0 victory.  Such a performance earned him his ninth victory along with “The Stat Line Of The Night” for Thursday, July 16th, 2009.

That was just the start that Philadelphia was looking for.  In a critical series to begin their second-half defense of top spot in the NL East, they will need to set the tone against the second place Marlins.  That win now puts them 5 games up and stretches their winning streak to six games.
