The Stat Line Of The Night – 07/22/09 – Marco Scutaro
Total Pro Sports – Once again we turn to the Cleveland Indians vs. Toronto Bule Jays series for our Stat Line of the Night. With the rumor mill in Toronto surrounding Jays ace Roy Halladay, it was another possible piece of trade bait that put on a show last night at the Rogers Centre. Shortstop Marco Scutaro had the hot bat, and it was just what the Jays needed in a 10-6 victory.
Much of the talks have been about when and where the Jays will deal Halladay, but Scutaro also appears to be on the market and can be of great value to any team looking at improve their middle-infield’s depth. Already known for his solid fielding, Scutaro showed of his skills at the plate, going 2 for 4 with two home runs and four RBIs. Such a performance was enough to earn him “The Stat Line Of The
Night” for Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009.
With the Jays one game under .500, their playoff hopes seem all but dead in the tough AL East. As a result, it seems as though they are sellers with the trade deadline approaching. While the asking proce for Halladay is a high one, Scutaro likely comes at a much more affordable rate. Whether the Jays will cash in on his recent success should be answered over the next week or so.
