The Stat Line Of The Night – 07/26/09 – Justin Morneau

justin-morneauTotal Pro Sports – Justin Morneau got the Twins’ bats started in the first, and they never looked back from there, beating up on Ervin Sanatana and the Los Angeles Angels bullpen.  When it was all said and done, it was the Twins who would take the important victory by a convincing score of 10-1.

Playing DH for yesterday’s game, Morneau added two home runs to bring his total to 26, which is tops in the American League.  Following his opening inning blast, he had to wait until the seventh for his second, a solo shot off Shane Loux.  His final numbers would read 2 for 4 with, 2 homers, and 3 RBIs, enough to earn him “The Stat Line Of The Night” for Sunday, July 26th, 2009.

The win was an important one for the Twins, who are still one game under .500, but find themselves only 4.0 games back of the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central.  With the entire division seemingly hitting a rough patch since the All-Star break, now is the perfect time for the Twins to make their move.  Thye will need more performances like yesterday’s in order to do so.
