Sam Hornish Jr Violent Crash At Watkins Glen
Total Pro Sports – Tony Stewert picked up yet another win on the Nascar circuit Monday at Watkins Glen. A race filled with caution flags, none more extravagant then when Sam Hornish Jr. lost control of his car for a second onto the grass and eventually hit a tire barrier. His car would collide with the tire barrier and swerve into the traffic causing a devastating crash. Also involved in the crash were Andy Lally, Jeff Burton, and Jeff Gordon who was 3rd in the standings coming into this race. ESPN announcers called the crash one of the most violent accidents they’d seen on a road course
“It wasn’t that hard of a hit, it’s just my back can’t stand too many hits,” said Gordon, who had a procedure on his lower back in May to relieve the pain and inflammation from mild arthritis. “I’m hurting.”
“It’s just not what I needed you know,” Gordon added. “You take three or four steps forward up to this point and you then you take a hit like that and you take a couple steps backwards.”
Thankfully all the drivers managed to walk away from there crashes but all will be shaken to be sure. Gordon has a history of back problems and is just coming off back surgery. He is confident that he will be back racing next week, despite being shaken up.
