Randy Couture’s Son, Ryan, Earns Impressive Submission Victory
Total Pro Sports – The supporters made is sound as if it was Randy Couture stepping into the ring, but the former UFC heaveyweight champion would not be fighting on this night. Instead, it was his son, Ryan, who would look to step out of his father’s footsteps and make his mark on the MMA scene.
The fight between Ryan Couture and Jimmy Spicuzza took place this past Saturday (August 22) at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas as part of Tuff-N-Uff productions’ “Future Stars of MMA” event. Spicuzza came out hard and was throwing the majority of the punches, and landing the majority as well. It looked as though he had hurt Couture as both fighters went to the ground, but while in the full-guard position, an unsuspecting Spicuzza was caught in a tight arm bar, which forced him to tap out immediately.
It was not the flashiest submission, like Toby Imada‘s inverted triangle choke, but it was more than enough to earn Couture the first round stoppage, and bring his MMA record to 3-1. Should he continue his winning ways, you can be sure that it will catch the attention of UFC president Dana White. With Kimbo Slice already headlining The Ultimate Fighter Season 10, Ryan Couture may be the perfect name to promote for the shows 11th season.
Here is a replay of his fight.
