The Stat Line Of The Night – 08/27/09 – Trevor Cahill

trevor-cahillTotal Pro Sports – It is a tough task pitching to the Los Angeles Angels, who hold the Major League’s best batting average.  Trevor Cahill of the Oakland Athletics was faced with that assignment and came out of it much better than most likely expected.

The A’s righty was on target all night and that meant that the Angels’ bats were not.  The end result would be a 2-0 victory for Oakland in a game where Cahill pitched seven strong, allowing only two hits while striking out two in a shutout performance.  Those numbers make for an impressive outing against any team, and are enough to earn him “The Stat Line Of The Night” for Thursday, August 27th, 2009.

The story in Oakland this summer has been a disappointing one as expectations of a contender have not nearly been met.  Instead, they find themselves well below .500 and at the bottom of the AL West.  If they have anything to look forward too, it is Cahill, a 20-year-old with a seemingly bright future.
