Usain Bolt Shows Off Soccer Skills In Real Madrid Season Opener
Total Pro Sports – It was the beginning of the great new era in Real Madrid, and what better way to usher it in than with the reigning “fastest man in the world”, Usain Bolt. The 100-meter and 200-meter world record holder was in attendance for the Spanish powerhouse’s opening game this weekend at the Bernabéu against Deportivo, and although he wasn’t there to show off his speed, he did get the opportunity to display some of his skills.
Real Madrid made headlines in the offseason with the signings of international soccer stars Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Xabi Alonso, and Bolt looked to impress them with a few moves of his own prior to the game when he was introduced to the crowd of 80,000.
Bolt played around with the ball a bit, performing a couple of kick-ups before giving it a boot towards the goal. As expected, he received a warm ovation. Following the game he was also taken to dinner by Ronaldo and his family. Maybe there is some sort of recruiting plan going on. Can Bolt be Real’s big signing next offseason?
Don’t hold your breath for that one. Bolt did however joke about the possibility of playing in Madrid:
“I played football at high school — a left-sided defensive midfielder. If I changed sport, I’d catch on easily so if Real Madrid decide to sign me, I’d be a very good asset!”
That may be true, but for now the Spanish giants seem to be just fine with their 3-2 victory to open the season.
Here is a look at some of Bolt’s skills.
