The Stat Line Of The Night – 08/31/09 – Adam Lind
Total Pro Sports – It has been a nightmare season for the Toronto Blue Jays thus far in 2009. After getting off to a hot start and holding the division lead through the first two months, they have fallen quickly, finding themselves out of playoff contention with a month left, and several question marks remain in their future. There are however a few pleasing storylines in the Jays’ clubhouse, and one of those has been the performance of Adam Lind. The left fielder was once again adding to his impressive numbers last night against the Texas Rangers.
It was perhaps one of his strongest outings at the plate in his Major League career as Lind went 3 for 4 with two homers (one a grand slam) and a double. He would drive in eight runs in total throughout the game, helping the Jays to an 18-10 victory in what was a wild affair. That was surely enough to earn him “The Stat Line Of The Night” for Monday, August 31st, 2009.
When you also consider the solid seasons put together by rookie pitcher Ricky Romero, second baseman Aaron Hill, and shortstop Marco Scutaro, things do not look all that bad for the Jays in the years ahead, but they will need to improve in many areas over the offseason if they have any intentions of competing in the tough AL East.
