Alex Ovechkin Cruises Manhattan Streets In A Zamboni
Total Pro Sports – If you thought that after seeing Alex Ovechkin behind the wheel previously (when he almost decapitated his own head and that of fellow Caps’ defenseman Mike Green) the NHL Network would refrain from going down that road again, you were wrong.
In a recent promotional gig for the release of 2K Sports’ NHL 2K10, which features Ovechkin on the cover, the Russian superstar took to the streets of Manhattan in a zamboni. It didn’t quite have the same quick pace and adrenaline rush as when Brian Vickers performed a pit stop in the middle of Time Square, but with Ovie behind the wheel things are always bound to be interesting.
Ovechkin received some instructions on the steering before starting the vehicle up, but he seemed to have everything under control once the wheels started turning. His left hand turn was impressive, and just for good measures there was a cop escorting him through the traffic to make sure he no one ended up under the moving zamboni.
Reports have recently indicated that Ovechkin would be willing to abandon the NHL in order to play in the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia (although this was rather old news, as we reported on it a few months back). Should that end up being the case, he may want to consider a career in zamboni driving. Their 10 mph speeds seem to be the perfect fit for someone with his driving skills.
