The Stat Line Of The Night – 09/14/09 – Tom Brady
Total Pro Sports – For those of you who had faith in the return of Tom Brady and used an early pick on him in your 2009 fantasy football drafts, you may have been worried following his first half performance last night against the Buffalo Bills. That doubt was soon erased by his marvelous second half, and most notably his fourth quarter magnificence which helped lead the Pats to a 25-24 come from behind victory.
Brady got off to a rocky start in the opening half, going 13 of 22 for 159 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception, which was returned by Aaron Schobel for a touchdown. That all changed in the second half as Brady became more comfortable, going 11 of 13 for 86 yards in the third quarter, but still without a touchdown. Then it was time to complete the amazing comeback and that is exactly what the former MVP did. Down 24-13 late in the fourth quarter, Brady found a way to throw two touchdown passes to Benjamin Watson. He went 15 of 18 for 133 yards in the frame and added the two scores. That was enough to earn him “The Stat Line Of The Night” for Monday, September 14th, 2009.
Patriot fans and Brady fantasy owners alike can now breath a collective sigh of relief. It seems like their stud quarterback will be just fine after all. Brady’s accuracy and timing were an issue during the opening half, but he seemed to grow more confident as the game wore on and was finding his big play guys on a regular basis. Randy Moss and Wes Welker both finished the game with 12 catches apiece. It may have taken an entire half, but it’s fair to say the New England air show has experienced liftoff.
