The Stat Line Of The Night – 10/05/09 – Brett Favre

Packers Vikings FootballTotal Pro Sports -It was the game marked down on the calendars of most NFL fans as Brett Favre faced off against his former team, the Green Bay Packers.  Even with Adrian Peterson and Ryan Grant patrolling the backfield’s of each team, this match up was slated to be a battle between Favre and current Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers.  Chalk this one up for number four.

The Green Bay defense was able to limit Peterson to 55 yards on 25 carries and one touchdown, but they had no answer to Favre and the Vikings’ air attack.  Finding three different receivers for each of his touchdown tosses, Favre was a solid 24 of 31 for 271 yards.  Backed by a strong defensive performance, that was easily enough to hold off the Packers in a 30-23 victory.  The score made it look close in the end, but Favre’s efforts kept the Vikings comfortably in front for most of the night and were enough to earn him “The Stat Line Of The Night” for Monday, October 5th, 2009.

The Vikings now join the Giants, Saints, Broncos and Colts as the only remaining undefeated teams in the league.  Coming off a dramatic win last week against the 49ers, last night was another big test for Minnesota, and it is fair to syay they passed this one with flying colors.  When they made the move for Favre before the season began, most said anything short of playoff success would be a failure.  Thus far they have done a great job making sure they get there.
