The Stat Line Of The Night – 10/06/09 – Mike Richards

mike-richardsTotal Pro Sports – In a game that produced several different nominees for last night’s stat line of the night honors, it was Mike Richards who stood above the rest.  The lineups of both the Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers boast a great deal of fire power, and although things were quiet after one period, that changed in the second thanks in large part to the performance put on by Richards.

The Flyers’ captain started the scoring with a powerplay marker 1:37 into the frame and after seeing his team go down 3-2 over the following 12 minutes, he put them back in the lead with two more goals, making the score 4-3 at the end of the period.  The Flyers would once again squander the their advantage before tying things up and getting the win in overtime.  The final would be 6-5, and Richards’ hat-trick would help his team secure two points and earn himself “The Stat Line Of The Night” for Tuesday, October 6th, 2009.

It was a wild game in Philadelphia as Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom and Kimmo Timonen each recorded three points along with Richards, while Flyers defenseman Matt Carle had a four assist performance of his own.  Two more players would end up tallying multi-point games, but in the end the Flyers were the only team to emerge with multiple points in this contest.
