The Stat Line Of The Night – 10/08/09 – Patric Hornqvist

Patric HornqvistTotal Pro Sports – It’s early in the season. But if Patric Hornqvist keeps this up he will be the breakout player of the year in the NHL.

Hornqvist has played in just 30 games in his short career. But through 2 games this season he has 2 goals, 4 points and most importantly a game-winning goal against the Avalanche to earn “The Stat Line Of The Night” for Tuesday, October 8th, 2009.

Hornqvist was busy all night long. He assisted on Jason Arnott’s game-tying goal in the 2nd period. Colorado scored and took the lead again early in the third. But Arnott then returned the helper as Hornqvist cranked one past Avs goalie Craig Anderson to tie the game at 2 with 7:29 left to play in the game.

Just over 2 minutes later, Hornqvist was in front of the crease and tipped in a shot by Ryan Suter to give the Preds the lead for good. He had a whopping 7 shots on goal for the game, and the Predators won their home opener. Hornqvist scored 2 goals just over two minutes apart. Nashville has won their first 2 games of the season, thanks to Patric Hornqvist.
