Manu Ginobili Not A Fan Of Halloween, Kills A Bat With his Bare Hand
It was a case of perfect timing. October 31st at the AT&T Center was the day, and the special visitor was none other than a bat.
Unfortunately for the blind black bird, Spurs guard Manu Ginobili is not a fan of timely arrivals, unexpected guests, or Halloween in general.
Late in the first quarter with San Antonio up by three against the Sacramento Kings, play on the court was delayed as a bat began circling the court and dive-bombing at the players. While some were forced to take cover from the aerial attack, Ginobili kept his poise, located the enemy and took a precise swap at it, knocking it to the floor. He would remove the creature from the court, allowing the game to preceed, but not before taking some necessary hygienical precautions.
As the theme song to “Batman” played, a few Sacramento players applauded, too. A trainer emerged to squirt sanitizer on Ginobilil’s hand. “When you can’t dunk anymore, you have to find a way to make it into the news,” Ginobili said. “So that’s what I did. I grabbed a bat. I didn’t think it was a big deal.” [ABC News10]
Whether the bat was killed or simply knocked unconscious remains unknown, but it appears as though it will result in another busy week for PETA when you consider this incident along with the many goats which were likely slaughtered by Packers fans in the name of Brett Favre.
