When the scrapers take the ice and have fighting on their mind, there is no stopping them. Don’t believe me? Just ask these refs who were privileged enough to be scheduled for this International Hockey League game between the Muskegon Lumberjacks at Fort Wayne Komets which eventually turned into a mini Battle Royal.
Late in the third period of the game, tempers boiled over and fists began to fly as an all-out line brawl broke out that not even the refs could contain.
Several fights broke out during the melee, the linesmen were tossed aside on a few occasions, and some players were even penalized for leaving their respective benches and penalty boxes. It was a wild affair between two teams that clearly do not like each other. It was just the type of game that can bring the fans to their feet.
The only thing missing from this one was a goalie fight.
Suspensions have been handed out by the league and fines were also assessed. For more information go here.
