The Stat Line of the Night – 11/03/09 – Dirk Nowitzki

Jazz Mavericks BasketballLooking to avoid dropping to .500 on the season, the Dallas Mavericks needed a big fourth quarter performance if they were going to come back from a 67-52 deficit against the Utah Jazz.  Playing in front of their home fans, they did not disappoint, erasing their opponent’s 15-point lead and eventually giving themselves the 96-85 victory.  And as you would expect, they looked to their big man from Germany to lead the way.  Needless to say, he did just that.

Dirk Nowitzki was unstoppable in the fourth quarter of last night’s game, notching 29 points in the frame.  He alone would outscore the Jazz by 11 in the final twelve minutes, proving that when it comes to shouldering a load, none is too big for Dirk.  His final stat line would read an impressive 40 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 5 blocks.  It was all around performance from Nowitzki that was highlighted by an unbelievable fourth quarter, which was enough to earn him “The Stat Line Of the Night” for Tuesday, November 3, 2009.

When talking about contender in the Western Conference, the Dallas Mavericks have flown under the radar thus far, but with the likes of Nowitzki, Jason Kidd, Shawn Marion and Jason Terry leading what appears to be a solid line up, they shouldn’t be forgotten in an discussion regarding a championship.  They may not have the fire power of the Lakers, Nuggets or Spurs, but when you have Big Dirk on your side, anything is possible.
