The Stat Line of the Night – 11/10/09 – Dwyane Wade
The Miami Heat felt like they were at a crossroads of their entire season last night going into halftime. Why did they feel this way? Because superstar Dwayne Wade said so. After giving his team a serious speech about how important winning this game was, he went out and proved that he didn’t even really need anyone else.
Wade scored 41 points on an efficient 29 shots, earning him “The Stat Line of the Night” as well as leading his team to victory. He scored 29 of those points after the intense halftime speech. Proving once again that he is in the upper echelon of players in this league, he topped 40 points for the 2nd time this season which puts him in an elite group that includes Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony. He also hit 12/13 free throws to go along with 5 assists, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals.
The win for the Heat puts them at 6-1. They are truly looking like a contender in the East behind a healthy Wade. With Wade’s free agency fast approaching this summer, it is crucial that the Heat have a good season. Although the Heat can offer him the most money, that doesn’t mean he won’t leave town if he thinks he has a better chance to win somewhere else. Ironically enough, he is really the only one driving the Heat to these victories which will theoretically keep him in South Beach. Only time will tell what happens, but for now, Wade is torching the East with nights like these.
