The Stat Line of the Night – 11/19/09 – Ricky Williams
With Ronnie Brown out and a must-win game against the Panthers, the Dolphins needed someone to move the chains and get in the end zone. Ricky Williams was up to the task as the Dolphins beat the Panthers 24-17 and improved to 5-5 — keeping their playoff hopes alive.
Williams took it hard to the Panthers’ D. He first scored in the 2nd quarter on a 14-yard reception from Dolphin QB Chad Henne. Later in the quarter Williams even subbed for Brown in the Wildcat formation, and scored out of it with a 1-yard run for a touchdown.
Then in the 4th quarter, Williams helped put away the Panthers with a 46-yard romp for a touchdown. That put Miami up 24-14.
For the game, Williams rushed for 119 yards on 22 carries and added two catches for 19 yards. He also scored on rushing and receiving TDs in the same game for the first time in his career. For his performance, Ricky Williams gets The Stat Line of the Night for 11/19/09.
