The Stat Line of the Night – 12/23/09 – Kevin Durant

Kevin DurantKeep Kevin Durant away from your Christmas tree. He’s on fire! Lame jokes aside, Durant was the man on Wedensday night, leading the Thunder to a huge road win in Phoenix against the Suns.

Durant played a little game with the Suns called “How you want it?”. Turnaround jumper from the low block. 25-footer for 3. Lay-up in traffic off the dribble-drive — foul and 1. He topped it all off with a pull up jumper from just inside the arc to give the Thunder a 115-111 lead with just :14 left in the game. Ice.

Durant led all scorers with 38 points. He did it on 12-20 shooting, including 3-4 from 3-point range. He sunk 11 of his 14 free throw attempts. He also added 6 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal.

The win brought the Thunder back to .500 with a 14-14 record, and it was just the second loss at home for the Suns this year. The Thunder are just a couple games out of the eighth seed in the Western Conference. Durant is 4th in the league in scoring, averaging close to 28 per game. And for his amazing performance against Phoenix, he gets The Stat Line of the Night for 12/23/09.
