The Stat Line of the Night – 1/4/10 – Andrew Goudelock
While most people were watching the Fiesta Bowl last night between TCU and Boise State, the 9th ranked North Carolina Tar Heels were learning an important lesson about college basketball: Never overlook an opponent. They played the College of Charleston last night, a non-power school in college basketball from a small conference. Boy were they surprised when CoC ran past them in overtime to pull the upset. The Charleston Cougars could not have done it without an amazing performance by their star, Andrew Goudelock.
Although the Tar Heels led by 11 towards the end of regulation, it never quite felt like Charleston was out of the game. Goudelock surely never felt that way, and he responded to the situation by scoring the Cougars final 8 points in regulation and tying it up on a 3 to send it to overtime. In overtime the Cougars would go on to win 82-79. Goudelock’s performance was legendary for the small school and helped them overcome the highly-ranked Tar Heels.
On the night, Goudelock finished with 24 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds. He also hit 4-8 of his three pointers, helping the Cougars to outscore the Heels 39-3 from beyond the arc. Andrew Goudelock’s performance was stellar and earned him “The Stat Line of the Night”.
