The Stat Line of the Night – 1/11/10 – Derrick Rose
It’s not easy following a season in which you were named “Rookie of the Year” and led your team in one of the all-time best NBA playoff series against the Celtics. That’s hard to top. It’s even more difficult when you’re a point guard that relies on that explosive first step and you start the season with an ankle injury. So forgive Derrick Rose if he hasn’t exactly blown you away yet this year.
But lately Rose has looked dominant again and last night was proof that he is one of the best guards in the game, certainly one of the most exciting. It’s not often the Chicago Bulls score 100 points. But last night Rose led the Bulls to 120 points and a win against the lowly Pistons.
Rose had everything working and shot 11-13 from the field for 22 points. He added 9 assists, a steal and 2 rebounds. And he did it in a bit less than half the minutes he normally logs. Rose put up those numbers in just over 25 minutes of playing time.
Rose is really starting to take over and lead the Bulls. His scoring and assists have gone up recently, and that first step is as explosive as ever. The Bulls might not be much this year, but if they get one of the big 2010 free agents, the sky is the limt. And for his big game last night, Derrick Rose has The Stat Line of the Night for 1/11/10.
