The Stat Line of the Night – 1/18/10 – Luis Scola
The Houston Rockets are not known for dominating individual performances. Their success on the court this season has come largely without a star or alpha-dog of any kind. As a team, they have come together on both ends of the floor in a way that is fun to watch. On this night, however, one man did stand out far above the rest. His name is Luis Scola and his monster double-double helped the Rockets put down the Bucks in overtime.
The Bucks played decent basketball with Andrew Bogut contributing a double-double of his own. Although they were able to push it to overtime, they could not get over the hump in Houston. Scola was superb in the contest, going 10-18 from the field and scoring 27 points. Not only was he an extremely efficient scorer, he also grabbed 15 rebounds. Although he did have a standout performance, as usual many other Rockets stepped up, with 4 others in double figures in points.
With the loss of Yao and T-Mac, Scola has been called upon to shoulder more of the offensive load this season, and he has risen to the occasion with 14.7 points per game. Last night’s game was a great example of his ability to handle the added responsibility on the offensive end, and as a result he earns “The Stat Line of the Night”.
